Bill Belichick identifies 'impossible' task facing Packers in Week 9 vs. Lions
Generally speaking, we should all listen when Bill Belichick talks about football. He's simply won too much to be considered another coach-turned-pundit who's out to go viral in hopes of getting a team's attention. (He might be doing that though.)
Since leaving the New England Patriots in a totally-amicable-and-definitely-mutually-agreed-upon way, Belichick's been all over football media. Whether it's the ManningCast, or his own shows on the CW (??) or those really cringey Underdog Fantasy Football commercials, Belichick is everywhere now.
On one of his several podcast appearances, Belichick was chatting with Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff about their game in Green Bay this weekend. Unsurprisingly, he had plenty of praise for Goff, who's played like a legit MVP candidate so far.

But then Goff and Belichick started talking about ways to try and stop the Lions' offense, and turns out, there are none? At all? Belichick quite literally called the task 'impossible.' Hope everyone's excited for Sunday!
Bill Belichick's Lions scouting report doesn't bode well for the Packers in Week 9
"It's impossible, I think, for a defense to really stop your offense," Belichick said. "There are too many weapons, the offensive line is too good. Blitzing's not the answer. Not blitzing's not the answer. I think you've just go to ... hang on and try to create as many long drives and as many long situations as possible. But that's hard because you have so many explosive players."
Well that's encouraging. Nothing like hearing arguably the greatest coach of all time (especially on defense) essentially say that the Packers are cooked. I know that he's talking with Goff, and in that format a lot of what Belichick says is meant to be more complimentary than analytical, but still – don't love it!
The worst part? He's not wrong. The Lions are a juggernaut, and while the Packers defense is starting to look like a group that's beginning to round into form, they still feel like home underdogs this weekend. The long list of injuries doesn't help.
Maybe that's not the worst place to be, but it never helps the ol' confidence meter to hear stuff like this all week. Hopefully Matt LaFleur and Jordan Love aren't spending their time between now and kickoff listening to Bill Belichick's podcasts.
