There's no debating that the Green Bay Packers desperately need help in the pass-rushing department. Despite the team finishing tied for eighth in total sacks a season ago, when it came to their overall pass-rush win rate, the unit did not look as good, finishing near the bottom of the rankings.

That's why Seth Walder of ESPN proposed a Packers trade that would excite fans and give the team a strong option who could get after the quarterback. Walder's hypothetical trade involved the Packers shipping a second-round pick in next year's draft to the New York Giants in exchange for Kayvon Thibodeaux and a 2026 fifth-round pick.

"This is a team in contention now, but with a major need at edge," writes Walder. "Green Bay's current grouping of Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare and fourth-round pick Barryn Sorrell probably isn't cutting it -- the team ranked 26th in pass rush win rate last season. Thibodeaux would certainly help the cause."

As Walder mentioned, the group the Packers have right now probably isn't going to finish anywhere close to the top of the pack in sacks. Thibodeaux would likely help with that, but Walder did point out that the former Giants' first-rounder hasn't exactly "lived up to his predraft hype" with 21 sacks in three seasons.

That being said, it'd be a risk the Packers should be more than happy to take, and it's not as though the Giants really need their former first-rounder anymore. They took Abdul Carter third overall, making Thibodeaux expendable and therefore, a team like the Packers could swoop in and hopefully turn him into a star.

If the Giants put Thibodeaux on the market, the Packers would have to be extremely interested in adding him. Otherwise, their pass-rushing woes will likely shine bright during the 2025 season, and this team needs to address their weaknesses while they still can so they can contend this year.
