Legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers is once again deciding if he wants to continue his Hall of Fame career or not. While his time with the Green Bay Packers has been over for years, he could make a decision this offseason that will still impact the franchise.

Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr recently laid out that decision in a piece making 32 bold predictions for the 2026 season. One of those predictions was Aaron Rodgers joining the Minnesota Vikings. Orr believes Rodgers is ready to chase more accomplishments and that Minnesota is ready for change, so it doesn’t enter 2026 with J.J. McCarthy as the starter.

"While it may be just a hunch, I don't see Rodgers walking away from the chance to pass Peyton Manning on the NFL's all-time touchdown list. And I don't see Kevin O'Connell walking away from the chance to add meaningful depth to his roster," Orr writes.

Aaron Rodgers to Vikings would risk his Packers legacy

That prediction coming true would be a nightmare for the Packers, for quite a few reasons.

For starters, Rodgers would be returning to the NFC North, on a different team, which would be tough for Green Bay's fans to watch. It's already awkward seeing the franchise legend in different uniforms, but Rodgers wearing Vikings gear would be a different level.

More importantly, Rodgers going to Minnesota would instantly make the Vikings a better team than they are with McCarthy at quarterback. That means Green Bay's path to reclaiming the NFC North would get even tougher. Not only would the Packers have to face Rodgers and company twice a year, but Minnesota would likely be a solid team overall, giving Green Bay a higher win total to surpass.

The other major reason why it'd be a nightmare for Packers fans to witness is that it would continue the weird parallels between Rodgers and Brett Favre. Rodgers was Favre's successor in Green Bay, and like his predecessor, his next stop after the Packers was the New York Jets.

While Rodgers had a detour with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he could still end his career in Minnesota, like Favre. Simply put, Packers fans don't want to see that.
