The Chicago Bears appear to have found a promising quarterback in Caleb Williams who has the potential to become a real force in the NFC North in the future, but that franchise still can't hold a candle to the Green Bay Packers and their more established signal-caller in Jordan Love.
Williams' rookie year showed glimpses of promise, but any year with a 10-game losing streak and over 60 sacks taken illustrates just how tough he had things in his first year. That hasn't stopped the Chicago homers from trying to paint Williams as a superior quarterback compared to Love.
Former Chicago radio host Danny Parkins, who is now a host on FS1's "Breakfast Ball" and a fill-in on "First Things First," apparently needed to drum up some viewers in what is a very languid time for NFL news. He uncorked a hot take that will get the state of Wisconsin up in arms.
Parkins claimed that Williams is a better quarterback than Love right now, a statement that can be refuted by even a very basic examination of their film and a look at Love's superior statistical numbers. Put down the orange and blue Kool-Aid for a second.
Former Chicago radio host says Caleb Williams is better than Jordan Love
Love has thrown 57 touchdown passes over the last two seasons, leading the Packers to the playoffs in both of those years and pulling off a tremendous upset of the Dallas Cowboys in one of them. Williams...lost 10 games in a row, and he padded his stats a bit.
Love has a much better situation than Williams, and not even the staunchest Packers fan can argue that. However, putting Williams on that pedestal based on what he can be instead of what he is right now is a classic mistake made by local analysts.
Williams' Bears are projected to be much better in 2025 now that Ben Johnson is in town (having replaced Matt Eberflus), but Green Bay is still projected to be the better team. Love's volatility, which manifests in some nasty turnovers, is the only reason that many teams with inferior quarterbacks can claim to have a better signal-caller.
Williams' offseason hype is getting out of control for the second season in a row, as voices like Parkins are willing to say some of the most heinous things in n attempt to discredit what Love has been doing with the Packers.
