Commanders could help Packers fans quickly see the best of Micah Parsons

The Micah Parsons era for the Green Bay Packers is already off to a great start, with Green Bay winning its Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions. Parsons, despite playing limited snaps, had his fingerprints all over the result with a pressure that forced Goff to throw an interception, as well as a sack. However, Packers fans haven’t seen the best of Parsons yet in a Green Bay uniform.

That could change on Thursday night when Green Bay hosts the Washington Commanders. The star defender should be even better in Week 2 since he has had more time with the team, but the familiar opponent should also bring out the best in him. Parsons shared a division with Washington during his four years with the Dallas Cowboys, and he has had a ton of success against them.

Micah Parsons has thrived against the Commanders in his career

Kevin Patra, in a recent piece detailing how much Dan Quinn and Jayden Daniels are worrying about Parsons, highlighted the defender’s success against his old division rival. He has more sacks, tackles for loss, and quarterback hits against Washington than he does against any other team.

"Playing in the NFC East his first four seasons, Parsons has more sacks (10.5), tackles for loss (9) and QB hits (15) against the Commanders than he does against any other opponent in his career (eight career games played versus Washington).

In two games in 2024, Parsons sacked Daniels 4.5 times (most versus Daniels of any player)."

Of course, part of this is because he has played the Commanders the most, along with other NFC East teams, and Washington was just bad. However, even with Daniels under center, Parsons still had success against the team during the breakout year last season. There’s nothing to suggest Thursday night will be any different.

If Parsons isn’t being limited for any reason, he should showcase the game-wrecking skills that made the Packers trade for him, and then give him a ton of money.
