Cowboys coach disrespects Packers with quote destined for 'Freezing Cold Takes'

The Green Bay Packers need a bounce-back game after losing to the Cleveland Browns in the final seconds in Week 3 to notch their first defeat of this young season. They'll have the perfect opportunity at just that with a road game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Normally, the Cowboys wouldn't be considered a layup, but with how poorly their defense has looked so far into the season (they made Caleb Williams look elite!), Packers fans are definitely feeling good about the offense bouncing back in Week 4.

Throw in that the Cowboys will be without explosive receiver CeeDee Lamb and, yeah, there's a reason Green Bay is favored by a touchdown despite being the road team.

Even with all that's stacked against his team in this matchup, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said something that will probably end up being highlighted by the Freezing Cold Takes account on X.

"We're good enough to beat the Packers without (CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Booker)," Schottenheimer said, via Todd Archer of ESPN.

Brian Schottenheimer's comments about the Packers will surely come back to haunt him

On the one hand, what is Schottenheimer supposed to say here?

If he says, "Oh yeah we're screwed", then he's not a very good head coach. On the other hand, it's clear that what he's saying just isn't true. The Cowboys are not a good football team, even with Lamb and Booker, so when you remove them from the equation, that's a big ol' yikes waiting to happen.

Considering just how dominant the Packers' defense has been in their first three games, Dak Prescott being down his best receiver and one of his starting offensive linemen isn't good news. To make matters worse for Schottenheimer and the Cowboys, we've all seen how bad that defense is.

Dallas ranks No. 30 in total defense, allowing 397.7 yards per game. It is dead last against the pass, No. 17 versus the run, and No. 27 in points allowed — the Cowboys are allowing 30.7 points per game.

But hey, Schottenheimer has to say stuff like this if he wants his team to play hard. That doesn't mean that this won't backfire on him spectacularly, though. And when that happens, Packers fans are going to be all over it. Freezing Cold Takes might be, too.
