It's certainly been a week for De'Vondre Campbell. The former Packers All-Pro, now with the 49ers, made headlines when he left the field during the middle of San Francisco's game against the Rams last Thursday night.
There was speculation that Campbell was hurt somehow, but after the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Campbell left simply because he didn't want to play.

Then came about 56 straight hours of every NFL TV analyst losing their minds for 90 second clips that social media managers all over the country couldn't get enough of. Just about every former NFL player with a TV gig got on camera to talk about Campbell broke one of the biggest unspoken rules in the game, and how it was going to be hard for him to find another team next year.
Maybe the harshest criticisms, though, came from his teammates (shocker!). On Monday, during the 49ers open locker room, star pass-rusher Nick Bosa didn't exactly hold back when talking about how the whole situation played out.
Nick Bosa doesn't hold back his criticism of former 49ers LB De'Vondre Campbell
"In the locker room before the game, I heard some complaining," Bosa told reporters. "I was going to say something, but didn't because I didn't want to create more of a distraction. So yeah, I kinda saw the foreshadowing, but I definitely didn't think it was going to result in that. Didn't know it happened during the game ... if he was going to do that, than he's not the type of guy to be here."
I mean ... fair play by Bosa here. I can't exactly blame a guy for reaming out a former teammate for quitting on everyone in the middle of the game. And it certainly doesn't help that Campbell reportedly quit simply because he wasn't named the starter for that game against LA. The NFL absolutely *loves* playing up the camaraderie and brotherhood aspect of the game, so it's entirely unsurprising to see breaking those bonds hit a very specific nerve inside the locker room.
Campbell's time in Green Bay ended in a similar – albeit slightly less dramatic – way, so it's not like anyone's all that shocked. It'll be interesting to see whether he ends up on another NFL roster next year, although I can think of two places that will, uh, politely pass.
