There's almost always an under-the-radar player who seemingly comes out of nowhere to make the 53-man roster. Wide receiver Isaiah Neyor is an early favorite to become that standout performer this year.
The Green Bay Packers have more targets to go around following the departures of Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks.
While the expectation is for Matthew Golden to slide into a featured role and for Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and the returning Tucker Kraft to catch the majority of Jordan Love's passes, there's room at the bottom of the depth chart.
That's where Neyor has an opportunity, and his stock is soaring based on his performances in the offseason program.
Isaiah Neyor is already making a strong case for a surprise Packers roster spot
Neyor has caught Matt LaFleur's eye during OTAs and minicamp.
"I'd say it's night and day for him. He's really shown a lot of flashes of excellence," LaFleur said. "Another big, long guy that can run. You can never have enough of those guys, especially at that position, so I'm excited about what's to come for training camp for him."
And it's not just LaFleur who came away impressed. Neyor has stood out repeatedly in the practices open to reporters.
"LaFleur spoke highly of Isaiah Neyor before practice. Just caught a nice comebacker near sideline. He's had a nice offseason in media portions," Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com wrote during Thursday's practice.
It's not Neyor's first year in Green Bay, either. He went undrafted in 2025, spending a few months with the San Francisco 49ers before the Packers signed him during training camp. He spent the entire season on the practice squad and even played a handful of snaps in the playoffs against the Chicago Bears.
Although it's early, and only time will tell whether Neyor can build on the momentum when the pads come on at training camp, it sure looks like he is showing signs of a second-year jump.
Neyor offers the size and athleticism the Packers covet. He is 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds with a near-perfect 9.90 Relative Athletic Score. He ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash.
Watson and Reed, fresh off signing multi-year extensions, are undoubtedly the Packers' top two receivers. Golden, a first-rounder in 2025, isn't far behind, and Savion Williams will also have plenty of opportunities.
Free-agent addition Skyy Moore has an opportunity to secure a roster spot for his return ability, but the door is wide open for another wide receiver to step up and make the team. Neyor has made a strong start.
There's almost always a surprise standout over the summer, and the Packers have had plenty of examples at wide receiver. Malik Heath and Allen Lazard immediately come to mind. Neyor has an added advantage because he spent his rookie season in Green Bay.
His stock is rising as the offseason workout program nears a conclusion. All eyes will be on him at training camp.
