Former Packers Pro Bowler just revealed their big trade deadline plans

More fun hints!

For the better part of the last month, the most "fun" guessing game on Packers Twitter has been trying to figure out which defensive player they might trade for.

And for good reason, most of those guesses have been in the secondary. There was a little bit of Jalen Ramsey momentum, followed by some Greg Newsome hope, and even a little Marshon Lattimore speculation after the Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen this week.

The Packers desperately need someone to help/take over for Eric Stokes, so it'd stand to reason that GM Brian Gutekunst would be keeping a keen eye on the secondary market leading up to Tuesday afternoon's trade deadline.

However, like all good trade deadlines, Tuesday morning brought a fun new twist. A former Packers player hinted at some intel about what the Packers were trying to do before the deadline, and it has nothing to do with cornerbacks! Which is either a very fun plot development or organizational malpractice, depending on your level of optimism.

TJ Lang suggests Packers are trying to trade for Giants LB Azeez Ojulari

Ohhhhh. That's fun! Ojulari has been one of the more popular mock trades among Very Logged On Packers fans over the last couple months, and outside of the fact that they could just objectively use the help, it's always a little more fun when fans accurately call their shot.

A little backround, just because: Ojulari was drafted in the 2nd round (50th overall) back in 2021. In the four years he's been with the Giants, he's played 44 games (starting 29) with 22 sacks, 59 solo tackles, 13 QB hits, and four forced fumbles. He hasn't quite ever matched his stellar rookie season (13 starts, eight sacks, 29 solo tackles) but has looked as good as ever in 2024.

As for Lang, there's a little bit more legitimacy to what he's saying than, say, another random former Packers player – he now works as a broadcast for the Detroit Lions' radio team, which means he was just recently back at Lambeau Field.

Who knows how much sourcing he did while working a game for the other team, but it's not totally unrealistic to think that a former Packers player who now works for an NFL team – and was just around Green Bay employees – may have picked up a juicy nugget or two. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
