Jaire Alexander had been a staple on the Green Bay Packers defense since the franchise selected him 18th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons in Green Bay, recording 287 total tackles, 241 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two quarterback hits, 12 interceptions, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 70 passes defended, one safety and one defensive touchdowns.
He earned two All-Pro selectins and two Pro Bowl nods. While he performed at a high level when he was healthy, Alexander was sidelined far too often. The star cornerback missed 38 out of a possible 116 games, including half of the Packers games over the past four seasons.
Although Jordan Love pleaded with the organization to bring Alexander back, Green Bay wound up releasing him in June -- paving the way for him to join college teammate Lamar Jackson on the Baltimore Ravens. It appears to be more of the same with his new team as he is once again sidelined as the regular season opener rapidly approaches.
Former Packers CB Jaire Alexander sidelined as he deals with injury
Alexander appeared to be on his way to becoming player, however, he has been unable to stay on the field. His tenure with his new team is off to a similar start as he has not been practicing.
Jason B. Hirschhorn of NFL.com shared an update, tweeting:
"Former Packers CB Jaire Alexander continues to miss practice with "something he's been dealing with for a few years," according to Ravens HC John Harbaugh. Alexander had his knee drained in July. He missed 10 games in 2024 with a knee injury that eventually required surgery."

Alexander had his knee drained in July. He missed 10 games in 2024 with a knee injury that eventually required surgery.
While Alexander only played seven games last season, he was productive when healthy. His 77.3 PFF grade ranked 16th out of 222 cornerbacks, while his 80.7 coverage grade ranked ninth.
In fact, he has never posted a coverage grade lower than 73.0. His inability to stay on the field, however, has hindered him and the issue has seemingly followed him to his new home. Alexander has not practiced since Aug. 9 and his status for Week 1 remains up in the air.
