Jordan Love drops a big hint about his status for Packers vs. Eagles

The early signs are encouraging.

The Green Bay Packers provided precious little information about Jordan Love's injury status, but that was by design. Matt LaFleur continued his bit of saying Love looked "limited," which is a reference to his status on the injury report, and that's about as far as he went.

It was a different stance from LaFleur's postgame interview last Sunday when he revealed Love "was good to go back in" the game and seemingly had no concerns about his status for the NFC Wild Card Round.

It seems like we may have entered the "competitive advantage" phase, where the Packers will release as little information as possible to keep the Philadelphia Eagles guessing.

Love played his part when he spoke to the media on Wednesday, but his answers sure didn't sound like someone concerned about their chances of playing.

It sure sounds like Jordan Love will play in Packers' playoff game against Eagles

The most important takeaway from Love's media session is that he is no longer dealing with numbness in his throwing hand. The only issue is some soreness in his elbow, which limited him at practice.

Then came the million-dollar question: Is Love playing on Sunday?

"We'll see, yeah. I'm hopeful," said Love.

A reporter asked whether Love could "cut loose" or "let it rip" at practice if he needed to, or whether the injury would prevent that.

"Yeah, I'll throw my normal—I dunno. I don't know what you mean by that. Sorry," Love said with a smile.

It felt like he stopped himself from revealing too much information, but it's hard to believe he didn't understand what the reporter meant by being able to "let it rip" when throwing the ball in practice. The fact Love had a wry smile while he answered the question perhaps says it all.

Most of his answers were short and to the point like this, which, again, feels like it's by design. LaFleur took the same approach, and we will undoubtedly get a similar response from offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich on Thursday.

We don't know for sure. All the Packers have said is that he was "limited" on the injury report. And if we can't know for sure, it means the Eagles also don't have all of the answers either. From that perspective, keeping Love's status hidden makes some sense for Green Bay.

However, the fact Love is feeling better, practiced in a limited fashion, and then had to stop himself short on a question about being able to "let it rip" sure seems like a good indication of his status on Sunday.

Time will tell.
