Jordan Love is quietly making an MVP case that the NFL isn't ready for

Is it time to talk about this?

Through two games, there might not be a better team in the NFL right now than the Green Bay Packers, and that usually means...

The MVP is a bit of a flawed award in the NFL. It's not been won by a non-quarterback since 2012 when Adrian Peterson won. It's turned into the 'best quarterback' award, but even that sometimes isn't accurate.

In 2024, Lamar Jackson was obviously the best QB in the NFL, but he lost the award to Josh Allen. What the MVP has truly become is the starting quarterback on the best regular-season team. That might seem like a mouthful, but it's the truth. Fortunately, though, for the Green Bay Packers, that appears to be what this team is trending toward...

Is Jordan Love making a very early MVP case in 2025?

Through two games, Jordan Love has been extremely sharp. He's tossed four touchdown passes, zero interceptions, has completed 66 percent of his passes, and has thrown for 480 yards.

The third-year starting QB has been sacked just two times and also has a mind-boggling 92.1 QBR. The Packers have scored 54 points, which is good for the sixth-best mark in the NFL. Furthermore, the thing that could really propel Love into the MVP conversation all season is the defense.

A great defense is not only going to help the offense, but it's going to turn the Packers into a juggernaut, and Green Bay has allowed just 31 points through two games, sporting the fifth-best scoring defense in the NFL.

When you think about it, the Packers might not need their starting QB to have the best statistics in the league to win the MVP. If Green Bay is a top-three team and Jordan Love is playing his tail off, that is going to be enough for him to take home the MVP award.

Again, the MVP award is flawed in today's NFL, but the first two games of the season does paint a very encouraging picture for this scenario to become reality.
