The Green Bay Packers are already at a massive disadvantage as the playoffs get underway this weekend.
First, Jaire Alexander was put on injured reserve last week after already missing significant time due to a knee injury. Then, Christian Watson tore his ACL in Green Bay's loss to the Chicago Bears. All this is on top of the week-to-week injuries that come with playing in the NFL, with guys like Evan Williams, Quay Walker, Zayne Anderson, and T.J. Slaton all on the injury report.
Jordan Love and Malik Willis were also both banged up during the Bears-Packers matchup on Sunday. However, a new addition to the injury report raised some eyebrows.
Edgerrin Cooper joined Romeo Doubs on Green Bay's injury report as being listed with an illness. Doubs missed Sunday's game due to a bug, which seems to be going around the locker room at 1265 Lombardi Ave.
Karl Brooks reveals Packers have been dealing with illness in buildup to playoffs
While not on the injury report, Karl Brooks also made mention of being impacted by the flu bug, while hosting the Karl Brooks Show on WDUZ 107.5/1400 The Fan in Green Bay.
Brooks splits hosting duties with Sean Clifford, broadcasting from Green Bay Distillery at 6 pm CT on Wednesday nights. Brooks said he was sick and was mainly in the facility to use the steam room, but he did practice. Then, 107.5 personality "Rookie" asked if he was "breathing on the offensive line," which brought laughs from the crowd, and Brooks mentioned that he wore a "ski mask" with "a bunch of Vicks."
This reminds fans of Davante Adams' legendary quote on how the team handled the flu bug during the 2019-2020 playoff run, telling teammates to "wash your hands, wash your butt." While both are laugh-worthy, the team will need to hope the guys around the facility are following this advice, taking their vitamins, and doing everything they can to be as healthy as possible ahead of this playoff run.
On a positive note, despite still being listed on Wednesday's injury report, Doubs does appear to be near full strength, as he was a full participant in practice. For now, Brooks remains off the report as well. Green Bay has not ruled anyone out for Sunday's game as of the latest injury report.
