There are probably a good amount of Green Bay Packers fans who feel like it has been forever since Aaron Rodgers was donning the green and gold.
Enjoying Jordan Love's ascension helps make it feel further away than it actually is, and on that note, there are likely many fans who feel like it was just yesterday that the Packers were constantly having to operate on Rodgers' time and his time alone.
Now, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers' misfortune -- certainly not pleasure -- to have to endure the waiting game. And, over the last few days, it has taken another hysterical, yet predictable, turn.
Just four short days ago, it was reported that Rodgers, himself, was going to be in Pittsburgh and meeting with the Steelers to discuss his future plans and, maybe, just maybe, work out a contract.
Aaron Rodgers has the Steelers in limbo just like he once held the Packers for ransom
Funny enough, the weekend passed and, guess what?
No meeting. Rodgers was reportedly in Pittsburgh, yes, but did he meet with the Steelers? Nope.
Even Adam Schefter confirmed as such on the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show:
"Aaron Rodgers was not at the Steelers facility once this weekend... I don't think anything has changed and I still think he ends up back with the Steelers."
This is funny. But, it's not surprising.
Let's go back to the 2022 offseason, shall we? No need to dive in head-first, but if you remember, Rodgers was contemplating his future back then, too. Was he going to retire? Did he want out?
Ultimately, he made the decision to stick around. That happened in mid-March. But then, he pulled the same antics the following offseason.
In 2023, he took until around the same time to seemingly decide to play in the coming season. But not for the Packers. In April, the trade that sent Rodgers to the New York Jets finally happened.
That marked two straight offseasons where Rodgers kept the Packers waiting far too long, but after a while, it didn't come across as a surprise. This is who Rodgers was and is.
Now, looking at his time in Pittsburgh, Rodgers is making things even worse for the Steelers. Last year, he waited until June 5 to sign with the team. This year, we're well into May and he still hasn't signed a deal.
Does he want more money? Maybe.
But, one thing seems to be for certain other than Rodgers continuing to do Rodgers things, and that's the idea that he's going to play in Pittsburgh another year.
Will the 42-year-old make this his last NFL season?
Some might say they hope so.
