In Week 16, the Green Bay Packers had plenty left to play for as they were out to clinch a playoff berth. Not only that, but they could continue climbing the standings and, potentially, reach a higher seed within the NFC.
The New Orleans Saints, meanwhile, had nothing else to play for at this point (other than maybe pride).
Green Bay's offense came out firing right away as quarterback Jordan Love and company picked apart the Saints defense on back-to-back drives. Nothing was slowing them down. But, they would see a prominent playmaker go down with an injury scare in the first half.
Christian Watson limped off the field vs. the Saints on Monday Night Football
On the Packers' third drive of the game, they continued to operate like a machine. But, on a 2nd-and-2 from the Saints' 20-yard line, wide receiver Christian Watson took a handoff and went around the left sideline for a gain of 14 yards.
Immediately following the play, though, it looked like a Saints defender rolled up onto Watson's left leg/hip area. He would quickly grab what looked like his left knee and appeared to be in some pain. The veteran wide receiver limped off the field, gingerly, as there was an official timeout, and he proceeded to walk into the medical tent for further evaluation.
About 10 minutes after heading into the medical tent, Watson appeared back on the sidelines and was walking around.
On the Packers' fourth drive of the game following a strip-sack of Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler, Watson came right back out onto the field and appeared to be fine.
Update: About midway through the third quarter, Watson left the game again due to a knee injury. He was officially listed as questionable to return, via the team.
We will continue to monitor his status and provide updates as necessary.
