It's the absolute last thing the Green Bay Packers needed.
Christian Watson has changed everything for the Packers' offense since his return in Week 8, but he suffered a scary looking injury in the Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos. With the Packers up 23-14 and going for the kill, Jordan Love fired a deep shot to Watson.
Not only did Patrick Surtain II make a phenomenal play to intercept the pass, but Watson landed on his shoulder and immediately looked in a lot of pain. He had to exit the game and went straight to the locker room. Be sure to keep checking this post for updates.
Christian Watson injury updates after suffering chest injury vs. Broncos
Update: Christian Watson leaves the game in an ambulance but no update from Matt LaFleur
According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, Watson "left the stadium in an ambulance with a chest injury."
Matt LaFleur didn't offer much of an update: "I don't have an update on that."
He did confirm that Watson left the stadium for a CT scan.
Update: Packers rule out Christian Watson for the rest of the game
The team has now ruled out Watson for the rest of the game. It's a chest injury. All eyes turn to Matt LaFleur's press conference for his status with the Chicago Bears up in just six days.
Update: Christian Watson questionable to return due to a chest injury
The Packers have announced it's a chest injury for Watson. He is officially questionable to return. It initially looked like he had landed badly on his shoulder or arm, but the team is calling it a chest injury.
On the FOX broadcast, Tracy Wolfson reported that Watson went straight to the locker room for X-rays.
Losing Watson for any length of time could derail the Packers' passing game. He is the game-changer they lacked early in the season, not just for his ability to stretch the field deep, but also for the attention other teams give him.
It comes after the Packers lost starting right tackle Zach Tom to a knee injury earlier in the game, another irreplaceable starter on offense.
If Watson can't return to the game, the Packers will need to rely on Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs, and perhaps they will give rookie Matthew Golden more opportunities to stretch the field.
Hopefully, Watson won't have to miss much (if any) time, but it was a scary moment as he left the field. He is truly impossible to replace.
