The Green Bay Packers went from dominating the Dallas Cowboys in Micah Parsons' return to his old stomping grounds to entering the half down 16-13 following two very late touchdowns. Any chance they had of putting Dallas away took a major blow after the latest news related to defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.
Wyatt suffered a nasty-looking injury that brought the game to a halt early in the game, and he was very quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game. The fact that he was instantly ruled out of the game might lead many fans to believe that this was a serious ailment.
The Packers are very much in this game, but their defense might not be able to replicate their dominant performances from the first three weeks of the seasons without a player who is quickly becoming one of the more important players on this front.
Packers DT Devonte Wyatt ruled out for Week 4 due to knee injury
Wyatt might not be a game-wrecker on the inside, but the former Georgia star has been the best interior lineman on the Packers roster this season. Without him, Green Bay is forced into a very disadvantageous position against a Dallas team that is built to exploit injuries up front.
Even with the Cowboys suffering some injuries to their offensive line after losing Tyler Booker and Cooper Beebe, the resurgence of Javonte Williams and Brian Schottenheimer's desire to build a team that can run the football as much as possible could make for a very potent 1-2 punch.
Expect to see a combination of Karl Brooks, Nazir Stackhouse, and Colby Wooden for the Packers in the remainder of this game. If Wyatt is to miss some time, look for rookie defensive tackle Warren Brinson to eventually earn an elevation to the team's active roster.
Wyatt is not going to be a loss that takes all of the wind out of Green Bay's defensive sails, but it seems hard to imagine a world where they are going to be an effective run-stuffing team without big No. 95 clogging up the middle.
