Latest Romeo Doubs concussion update doesn't bode well for Packers and Jordan Love
When Romeo Doubs left the Packers' Week 12 game against the 49ers with a concussion, it was always going to be an uphill climb to get cleared in time for their game against the Lions this week. Even with their weird back-to-back Thursday schedule quirk giving him a few more days than he'd normally have to get ready for their Thursday Night Football game, it seems like the Packers will have to head to Detroit without him.

While speaking to reporters during his Sunday afternoon press conference, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that, despite Doubs being a participant in the team's individual walk throughs, he was still in concussion protocol. (And after missing the last two games with a knee injury, cornerback Jaire Alexander also returned to practice on Sunday.)
Romeo Doubs participated in Packers practice but is still in the concussion protocol
"No, he's still in the protocol," LaFleur said. "... You definitely want all your guys available so you can put them in whatever position you think you need to put them in for you to go out there and have success. So losing a guy like Rome was not beneficial to us."
Returning to practice after sustaining a concussion is always good news, but potentially having him available for their rematch with the Lions – which is, realistically, their last shot at a division title – obviously means a little bit more. Statistically speaking, Doubs was on pace to have the best second of his three-year career in Green Bay: through the first 10 games of this season, he was on track to set career-highs in receptions, receiving yards, yards per reception, and catch percentage.
And it's not like the Packers' passing offense can afford to lose him for an extended period of time, either. Going into Thursday's game, they rank 27th in attempts, 25th in interceptions, 10th in yards, and 5th (!) in passing touchdowns. According to ESPN's Receiver Score metric, of all the Packers' pass-catchers, only tight end Tucker Kraft has had a better year than Doubs.
