The Green Bay Packers have played two games this season and are 2-0. While the offense has been perfectly fine, the defense has been what's garnering attention from the talking heads, and for good reason.

The Packers made the Detroit Lions, one of the most explosive offenses in the league over the past few years, look absolutely inept on offense in Week 1 in an eventual Packers blowout win. They also shut down Jayden Daniels and the Commanders offense in Week 2.

Circling back to that Lions point, though, one might have thought, 'Oh the Lions just aren't as good anymore because Ben Johnson isn't there leading the charge' — but not so fast! The Lions have been taking it to the Bears early on in their Week 2 showdown, allowing Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and the rest of that offense to do pretty much whatever they want.

Lions offense destroying Bears highlights just how good Packers defense is

This proves that not only are the Packers great on defense, they might be elite this season. Sure, it's still early but hey, what fun is it if we don't make statements like this two weeks into the 2025 campaign?

The Packers' defense was already pretty solid a season ago in his first year as Green Bay's defensive coordinator, but with one full year under his belt plus adding star pass-rusher Micah Parsons to the fold, everything is coming together beautifully for this unit. Again, it's still early in the year, but a 2-0 start and holding two very good offenses to under 20 points is a strong statement to make, even if it is early in the season.

We still have 15 games remaining for the regular season, but it's certainly more fun to be on this side of the defensive discussion than the other option. Let's hope the Packers D can keep this up because, as they all say, defense wins championships.
