It's official - Malik Willis won't be suiting up for the Green Bay Packers again, as he inked a three-year deal to join the Miami Dolphins. It's a move that Packers fans expected, as Willis is reuniting with Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who accepted the Dolphins' head coaching job this offseason.

It's sad to see Willis go for a lot of reasons, with the main one being that he was a reliable backup to Jordan Love. Another is just that he was such a likable guy, and it's always sad to see those players leave.

Willis had a message for Packers fans after signing with the Dolphins, though, and it's one that might bring a tear to fans' eyes. He thanked the fans for their support and said he'll never forget his time in Green Bay.

"Much love and respect to packer nation supporting us and me the past 2 years! It has been awesome upholding the standard for the green and gold [cheese emoji]. It has been more than a blessing and i will never forget my time here and the relationships I made!"

Malik Willis shares heartfelt message with Packers fans

On the one hand, Packers fans are happy for Willis. He secured the bag and gets to stay with a familiar face in Hafley. He'll also get to be a starting quarterback, which is something he proved he could do in Green Bay the past two years.

On the other hand, his departure leaves the Packers without a backup quarterback, and whoever they get is unlikely to be better than Willis. The free-agent market is thin at the position. Considering Jordan Love has missed time in each of the past two seasons, having a reliable backup quarterback is a must for this team, and that might be hard to find this offseason.

Willis revamped his career in Green Bay, so it makes sense that he'd be emotional about leaving. He was once a forgotten third-round pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2022 who flamed out there before getting traded to the Packers and reinventing himself. Hopefully, he takes what he learned in Green Bay and can become a trusted starter in Miami.

Best of luck to Malik Willis on the next chapter of his career!
