Unless Jeff Hafley surprisingly takes a head coach job, which is unlikely after missing out on the New York Jets' opening, the Green Bay Packers won't need to make any significant coaching changes.
Matt LaFleur is looking for a new defensive line coach after firing Jason Rebrovich, and he also needs a new quarterbacks coach following Tom Clements' retirement.
The offensive coordinator job could open up if Adam Stenavich receives an opportunity elsewhere. While it's unlikely he will land a head coach gig in this hiring cycle, a team in need of an offensive coordinator could offer Stenavich play-calling duties, something he doesn't get in Green Bay.
Luke Getsy was a candidate for the offensive coordinator opening before Stenavich took it three years ago. Getsy has since spent time with the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders. Both stints ended poorly, and he returned to Green Bay as a consultant in the second half of this season.
His return is now a permanent one.
Packers are reportedly hiring Luke Getsy, although his exact role is stll unknown
According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers are expected to hire Getsy. He will be part of LaFleur's offensive staff in "some capacity," although the exact position isn't yet known.
Depending on which NFC North team you root for, you may have a different opinion on Getsy.
Bears fans couldn't wait to see him leave. Getsy left Green Bay to take play-calling duties in Chicago, but the Bears dismissed him after two seasons because his offenses ranked 28th and 20th. In 2024, he took the offensive coordinator job in Las Vegas but only lasted nine games — the Raiders made a disappointing 2-7 start.

However, Getsy's previous stints in Green Bay went far better. It's why he earned offensive coordinator opportunities in the first place.
Getsy was initially part of Mike McCarthy's staff, beginning as an offensive quality control coach in 2014 before landing a promotion to wide receivers coach in 2016. After one year away at Mississippi State, Getsy returned for Matt LaFleur's first season. He spent three years as Aaron Rodgers' quarterbacks coach and also took on the passing game coordinator duties in 2020.
In Getsy's three seasons as the quarterbacks coach, Rodgers threw for 12,416 yards, 111 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He won back-to-back MVP awards. Those numbers are so impressive that they force you to double-check.
The exact role Getsy takes on LaFleur's staff remains to be seen, and it could depend on Stenavich's status, but he provides experience and can help wherever the Packers need him.
