The Green Bay Packers have flown out of the gates with impressive wins over the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, but they are still just scratching the surface of their potential.
Matt LaFleur knows it. The Packers brushed the Commanders aside relatively comfortably on Thursday Night Football, but LaFleur knows this team has further levels to climb, especially on offense. He made that crystal clear following the win.
"There was a lot of mistakes out there that we have got to clean up, between penalties, some miscues, some missed ops," said LaFleur. "I think there's opportunities we need to capitalize on if we want to become the team that I think we can become."
Matt LaFleur believes Packers still have a lot of work to do to reach their best
LaFleur is right. Not only do they have further gears to shift into, but he is ensuring there is no complacency after beating two of the league's elite teams.
The Packers' coach admitted that the offense was a little too "feast-or-famine" on TNF, and the first half perfectly encapsulated that. They went 96-yard TD drive, three-and-out, 90-yard TD drive, three-and-out. That's exactly what LaFleur was alluding to.

The best part? Imagine when the Packers do find that consistency. That's what LaFleur is striving for, and this unit was so close to embarrassing the Commanders with a 30-plus-point game.
As for the defense, LaFleur summed it up perfectly.
"Relentless. Just physical, aggressive, attacking," said LaFleur. "The play style is exactly what we want from these guys. It always starts with the energy and effort. That's going to get you through and can overcome for some of the mistakes. I think our front is extremely disruptive, getting after the quarterback. It didn't seem like they ran the ball very effectively at all, either."
He's right. Washington rushed for just 51 yards on 19 carries — that's 2.7 yards per attempt.
LaFleur isn't satisfied, and nor should he be. It's only Week 2. The Packers have chalked up two impressive wins but left plenty on tape to correct. That's exciting. They now get the mini-bye to fix those issues and level up as the season pushes on.
This win was fun, but LaFleur has the perfect attitude. He wants more.
