Matt LaFleur could lose yet another key member of Packers coaching staff

The coaching reshuffle might not be finished.

The Green Bay Packers have become a victim of their own success.

They unsurprisingly lost highly-rated linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, who becomes Liam Coen's defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Two other coaching changes came out of necessity. Longtime quarterbacks coach Tom Clements retired at the end of the season, with Matt LaFleur reportedly promoting Sean Mannion to replace him. LaFleur fired defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich after a disappointing season from the pass rush.

Unfortunately, the coaching shakeup might not be over just yet.

Packers' offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich lands another interview for play-calling role

Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich has received significant interest in this year's hiring cycle. He interviewed for the Chicago Bears' head coach job and the Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator vacancy, but he isn't done.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC-2, Stenavich is set to interview for the Houston Texans' offensive coordinator job.

While the Packers can block coaches from making lateral moves, Stenavich would presumably take play-calling duties in Houston, a role he doesn't have in Green Bay. LaFleur has always let his assistant coaches interview for jobs in this scenario.

Stenavich joined LaFleur's staff in 2019, replacing veteran offensive line coach James Campen. He added run game coordinator responsibilities to his resume in 2021 before becoming LaFleur's offensive coordinator a year later.

The next logical step is to become a play-caller, and building an offense around C.J. Stroud could ultimately lead Stenavich to a head-coaching job.

Who could replace Stenavich in Green Bay?

Interestingly, it could be the same coach who almost became the Packers' offensive coordinator before Stenavich: Luke Getsy. He left Green Bay to take a play-calling job with the Chicago Bears in 2022. After failed stints with the Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, he returned to LaFleur's staff as a consultant this season.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers have hired Getsy to become a senior offensive assistant, but one has to wonder whether he could take on the offensive coordinator job if Stenavich departs.

Unlike at his previous two spots, he wouldn't call plays for the Packers.

Stenavich's departure feels inevitable, if not this season, then next. He continues to draw interest from around the league, and if he has head-coaching aspirations, he likely needs to follow in LaFleur's footsteps by taking a play-calling job elsewhere.

In the short term, the Packers may lose another key member of their coaching staff.
