It was perfect.

It couldn't have been more perfect. The Green Bay Packers sure picked their moment to end their two-decade-long wide receiver drought.

Texas' Matthew Golden becomes the first Packers wide receiver selected on Day 1 since they took Javon Walker in 2002, over a year before Golden was born. Aaron Rodgers famously never got a first-round wide receiver, but the Packers made amends for Jordan Love.

Talk about an unforgettable moment. The Packers made the pick in Green Bay's own draft in front of thousands of hometown fans. They loved it, and so did Golden, who made the trip to Lambeau Field to enjoy it in person.

The selection raises new questions. What does it mean for Christian Watson? Golden is a potential replacement for the Packers' former second-round pick.

That's a different story. For now, we can celebrate the Packers making a game-changing addition to their passing game, and they got a good one.

Matthew Golden was fired up after Packers drafted him in front of the hometown fans

Golden will never forget that moment, and it fired him up to get started in Green Bay.

"I've never felt nothing like it," said Golden. "I wish I could go back out there right now. It was so cool. The energy that Packer fans have got, man. I could just feel it. I'm so excited to be here."

Golden brings so much to the Packers' offense.

"I got a lot in my game. I can play inside, play out. I could also take the top off. Whatever the team needs me to do, I’m definitely that guy they need," he said.

He sure can. Golden can stretch defenses vertically like Watson, but he offers so much more than that. Matt LaFleur will find creative ways to get him involved.

It was worth the wait. The Packers desperately needed a game-changing addition for Love, and they found it. Golden should've gone far earlier in this draft, but the league's loss is Green Bay's gain.

It's only fitting that Golden was in Green Bay to enjoy a moment fans have waited 23 years for.
