New NFL QB rankings give Packers fans a great excuse to laugh at the Bears

And what else do you really need?

Usually, I'd try to avoid any sort of NFL ranking that gets published in mid-May. We're all bending over backwards to figure out what sort of content people are going to click on in the middle of the NFL's most boring stretch of weeks, and that tends to make people go a little crazy with their ideas.

For instance, a brand new, post-draft QB rankings – after a draft that only featured two teams taking new starting QBs – would normally be a non-starter for me. I never really care about QB rankings, but I certainly don't care about them during late spring.

Is Lamar Jackson Actually Better Than Patrick Mahomes Now?! Here's What's Happened Since Everyone Stopped Playing Football That Explains Why Josh Allen Isn't That Much Better Than Brock Purdy. It's all just so transparent and yucky and, most importantly, uninteresting.

But every once in a while, offseason content inadvertently provides a real gem. And reader, today we have that gem. In CBS Sports' newly-published QB rankings, not only do they put Jordan Love in the top 10 (!) but they also slot Chicago's Caleb Williams in a hilariously-low spot. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Jordan Love's CBS Sports ranking is great, but Caleb Williams' is even better

CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin has Love at No. 8:

"He can't quite seem to shake his inner Brett Favre, sometimes leaning on his live arm to a fault," Benjamin writes. "Let's remember he's only entering Year 3 as a full-timer, though. With a healthier and restocked receiving corps, he's primed to guide Matt LaFleur's squad right back to the postseason."

You won't find Williams until No. 16.

"Perhaps no young gunslinger is better equipped for a seismic leap. Equally frenetic and feisty as a poorly protected rookie, the former No. 1 overall pick now has a fortified front and staff on his side."

That is The Good Stuff. 16! CBS Sports would rather take their chances with both Bo Nix and Baker Mayfield. We had to spend all year hearing about why Caleb Williams was actually way better than his very mediocre stats indicated, and the last game of the season admittedly didn't help.

With all the Ben Johnson-themed additions that Chicago's made since, Bears fans have spent their 150th straight offseason being the loudest fanbase in the NFL. So you can imagine the Packers' delight that comes from watching them all hate click the article and see The Chosen One ranked below Baker Mayfield.

With all that being said, considering Chicago's QB history, maybe having the 16th-best QB in the NFL is a feat worth celebrating. Congrats, Bears fans!
