The Green Bay Packers have been banged up in training camp as their injury report is filled with names of players that are expected to be key contributors in 2025. That includes quarterback Jordan Love, who has led the team to back-to-back postseason appearances in his two years as a starter.
Injuries kept Love out of two games last season and seemingly affected him in others, however, he was still able to lead Green Bay to have one of the best offenses in the entire NFL. The Packers finished the season ranked eighth in scoring offense and fifth in total yards.
While the franchise was hoping for a healthier season out of their star quarterback, he suffered a thumb injury that required surgery in Green Bay's preseason opener against the New York Jets. An NFL insider recently revealed that Love is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Love has excelled in two seasons since taking over for future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Since becoming a full-time starter in 2023, he has thrown for 7,548 yards, 57 touchdowns and 22 interceptions. The Packers star has completed 63.7% of his pass attempts while adding 330 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 75 carries.
Adam Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, where he shared that Green Bay expects to have their starting quarterback in Week 1, stating:
"That's why they did the surgery because I think that they expected that he would be able to get back and they're ramping up slowly. This is not anything that's unusual and there's no reason to subject him to anything that is unusual. So, it's a case where basically he's on track to be ready to play in the opener against the Detroit Lions and I think that they feel pretty good about that."

Love returned to practice on Monday and participated in all of the drills except 11-on-11. All signs indicate that he will be ready for the season opener, which is, obviously, very good news for the Packers, who will start their season with a tough divisional matchup against the Lions.
If for some reason Love has a setback and is unable to go, Malik Willis will get the nod under center. In his first year with the Packers, he threw for 550 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft completed 74.1% of his pass attempts while adding 138 rushing yards and one touchdown on 20 carries.
