It's not even training camp but Packers look ready to send one veteran packing

As the Green Bay Packers get ready to kick off the latest installment of training camp, fans are going to be buzzing around some key position battles.

One of the lesser--known battles, though, is going to come by way of the defensive line. Specifically, third-year pro Deslin Alexandre is going to find himself having a tough time earning a roster spot.

The pass rush is already an area the Packers need to add more talent to, and camp is just about here. Green Bay has been a team to watch for someone maybe like Matt Judon or Jadeveon Clowney, but even without adding another veteran, Alexandre is facing an uphill battle.

Deslin Alexandre may not make it through Packers training camp

The Packers didn't exactly go all-in on their pass rush this offseason, but they did at least add some talent.

In the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Green Bay took Barryn Sorrell. Then, in the fifth, they added Collin Oliver. They may not yet be household names, but the fact Green Bay spent capital on two pass rushers is notable.

Rashan Gary and Lukas Van Ness are the obvious starters at defensive end, with Kingsley Enagbare and Brenton Cox Jr. potentially the next two in line other than the pair of rookies.

That is a total of six at the position, already, and we haven't even brought up every name in the room. For Alexandre to earn a spot, he's going to at least have to significantly outshine one of the rookies, and that's going to be hard to do.

Alexandre has yet to appear in a regular season game after going undrafted back in 2023, so his career has not even fully taken off. He could be a candidate for the practice squad, as he has been on teams in the past.
