One Packers starter is hanging onto his job for dear life (and it won't last long)

We've spent plenty of time talking about the lead-up to Green Bay Packers training camp and, of course, one of the most exciting parts about it comes by way of position battles.

There are going to be a few worth monitoring, but maybe the most important is one that will take place just in front of quarterback Jordan Love, as the team decides which starting five offensive linemen make the most sense.

Head coach Matt LaFleur has openly acknowledged the likes of Rasheed Walker and Jordan Morgan competing for a job, and the former might be the odd man out, eventually. But, it doesn't completely have to do with Morgan taking the job. Instead, it has more to do with rookie second-round pick Anthony Belton.

Anthony Belton could cause a complete shakeup along the Packers' offensive line

Green Bay's second rounder wasn't drafted to sit on the bench forever, obviously. He may not have a starting gig right away, but it's only a matter of time.

Walker is already competing with Morgan as a starting tackle, and whether Morgan beats him out or Belton manages to snag that job, Walker is going to face a harsh reality sooner or later. Maybe the most telling detail of all is the fact that Walker's contract is up after this season.

Between LaFleur stating there is an open competition at left tackle and Walker's contract expiring in 2026, that tells fans everything they need to know. But, then you throw in the fact that the Packers took Belton in Round 2, and it all comes together even clearer.

So, next year, like it or not, it'll most likely be Morgan and Belton up front and starting in some fashion. Morgan might actually be better suited at guard, which then makes even more sense as to why the team drafted Belton.

Walker's time in Green Bay is dwindling, and the team has long been busy putting a plan in place for when he's gone. During camp, you could see it come together even more.
