The Green Bay Packers may have added Nate Hobbs in free agency, but with Jaire Alexander’s future up in the air and depth running thin behind him, cornerback has quietly become one of the team’s biggest long-term needs.

If Green Bay wants to continue building around its fast, physical defense, it needs another boundary corner who can hold his own in man coverage.

Enter Benjamin Morrison, the Notre Dame product with polish, pedigree, and elite ball production. In just three seasons, he logged nine interceptions and quickly established himself as one of the most technically refined corners in the country.

With fluid movement, sharp instincts, and a knack for positioning, Morrison consistently made life difficult for opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers.

While he’s not an overwhelming athlete or a true lockdown CB1 from Day 1, Morrison offers a plug-and-play skill set that would slide in well opposite Hobbs in 2025. Here’s our full scouting profile on the Packers’ potential next outside corner.

Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison 2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Notes

  • Height: 6-foot
  • Weight: 190 pounds
  • Recruiting: 2022 4-star, No. 311 national, No. 35 CB
  • Freshman All-American (2022), Jim Thorpe Award Semifinalist (2023)
  • Family is full of athletes—father Darryl played safety at Arizona and was a sixth-round NFL pick; siblings competed in D1 football, gymnastics, and volleyball

Positives

  • Elite technique and footwork in press coverage; rarely gets out of phase or off balance on the outside
  • Ball production speaks for itself—nine interceptions in under three seasons with natural hands and high-point skills
  • Zone savvy and anticipation make him a problem in Cover-3 or match schemes; sees route combinations develop
  • Patient and composed under pressure, especially when tested vertically or on double moves

Morrison’s technique and instincts are advanced for a college corner. He’s fluid in man, aware in zone, and consistently stays in phase. His ball skills pop—nine career picks—and he rarely looks out of position. Green Bay’s secondary could use another reliable cover corner, especially with Jaire Alexander’s future in doubt.

He’s also versatile, with experience both outside and in the slot. Morrison plays with a calm, competitive edge and isn’t afraid to get involved in the run game. He fits a defense that values physicality and discipline, and his football IQ will get him on the field early.

Negatives

  • Struggles to disengage from physical receivers who can overpower him at the top of routes or in run support
  • Tackling needs improvement, both in form and consistency; high missed tackle rate throughout college
  • Lacks elite recovery speed, which could be exposed if he loses a step in press or bites early in zone

Morrison doesn’t have ideal size or strength for press coverage and can struggle against bigger receivers. He lacks elite speed, and there are reps where recovery becomes an issue. If he’s tasked with taking over CB1 duties in Green Bay, matchups against physical WRs could be a concern.

In zone, he occasionally jumps routes and leaves space behind. He also needs to become more consistent shedding blocks and finishing tackles. Add in the 2024 hip injury, and there’s some risk with durability and missed development time.

Benjamin Morrison NFL Player Comparison

  • Primary Comp: Kyle Fuller
  • Alternative: Asante Samuel Jr.
  • Floor Comp: Shaquil Griffin

Kyle Fuller is the cleanest comp for Morrison. Both are cerebral, scheme-versatile corners with elite instincts and technical polish. Fuller didn’t rely on top-end speed but thrived through sharp footwork and a nose for the football.

Like Morrison, he excelled at staying in phase and disrupting timing with smart positioning and awareness.

Asante Samuel Jr. is a solid alternative comp. He’s twitchier than Morrison, but both win with instincts, confidence, and clean man coverage technique. They don’t overwhelm physically, but they consistently hold up against top competition thanks to their feel for the position.

Benjamin Morrison 2025 NFL Draft Grade: Round 2

Morrison brings polish, instincts, and high-end coverage IQ. If Green Bay is serious about reinforcing its secondary, this is a cornerback who could step in and make an immediate difference on the outside.
