Packers' 2025 strength of schedule reveals an early disadvantage

The Packers have nine games on their 2025 schedule against teams that made the NFL Playoffs this past season.

While the NFL schedule typically isn't released until May, the Green Bay Packers have known their opponents for the 2025 campaign since the moment this past regular season ended.

And Matt LaFleur & Co. will certainly have their work cut out for them as they attempt to reach the postseason for the third consecutive year.

Six of their 17 games, of course, will be contested against their fellow franchises from the NFC North, which was the strongest division in the NFL in 2024 — at least during the regular season, that is.

In addition to matchups with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears, Green Bay will also face the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants, the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and the NFC runner-up Washington Commanders as the three-year intraconference rotation dictates that all NFC North teams will play all NFC East teams.

Furthermore, with the four-year interconference cycle dictating that all NFC North teams will play all AFC North teams, the Packers will take on the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

With a third-place finish in the division in 2024, Green Bay will also battle the third-place teams from the other two NFC divisions they're not already scheduled to play, giving them matchups with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers.

And finally, for their 17th game, with the rotating cycle dictating that each NFC North team will play the AFC West team that finished in the same position in 2024, the Packers have a date with the Denver Broncos.

For those counting, that's nine games for Green Bay in 2025 against teams that made the playoffs this past season. And for those who take stock in strength of schedule, the Packers have one of the most challenging slates in the NFL next season.

The Packers are tied for the fifth-toughest strength of schedule in 2025

Based on regular-season records from this past season, the Packers' 2025 opponents had a combined winning percentage of .557, going 161-128.

As such, Green Bay is tied with the Vikings and Cowboys for the fifth-toughest strength of schedule for the 2025 campaign. Only the Giants (.574), Lions (.571), Bears (.571), and Eagles (.561) have a more difficult slate.

Here's a quick look at the entire 2025 NFL strength of schedule.
