The Green Bay Packers' lack of a deep pass rush has dominated offseason discussions, but the defensive line as a whole may also lose some of its teeth when it comes to defending the run. While both of these players were imperfect, losing Rashan Gary and Kingsley Enagbare to the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets, respectively, will impact their ability to set the edge.

Even though he remains unsigned, Jadeveon Clowney may be one of the more effective pass rushers on the market if only looking at 2025 production and his overall player profile. With Micah Parsons' injury likely to knock him out for longer than many fans wanted, a signing may move from a luxury to a necessity.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz has listed Green Bay as a team that could be at the front of the line when it comes to Clowney's services. Clowney has historically waited until the season draws near to pick his team, but he has always had a fairly healthy market. The Packers could jump to the front of the line.

Packers listed as possible landing spot for free agent DE Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney, who is still carving out a quality NFL career after being picked No. 1 overall by the Houston Texans, is fresh off tallying 8.5 sacks in 13 games with the Dallas Cowboys. That number represents a step-up from the 2025 season, and it came on a poor defense with a lack of pass rush talent around him.

Clowney has never recorded double-digit sacks in the NFL, but team's keep giving him work due to his ability to both pile up pressures at a much more impressive rate than his sacks would indicate. That two-way skill is what is going to make Clowney a very productive player as he ages, and the Packers are not in a position to turn him down.

Clowney can afford to be picky, as he will likely only be willing to take a contract from a team that has at least a prayer of winning a championship. If the Packers sign Clowney, would it surprise anyone if he ends up as a starting pass rusher in the team's base defense? With the lack of talent on display, it shouldn't.

The Packers have enough room to bring him in, and few contenders would be willing to give Clowney the same diet of snaps he had last year in Dallas.
