Packers and Broncos can fix most glaring flaw with rare player-for-player trade

It makes sense for both sides!

It's no secret where the Green Bay Packers are weakest heading into 2025, but they do have a perfect trade partner to help out here. The Packers have a strong roster on paper, but even the strongest rosters are suffering at a position or two.

Green Bay isn't immune to this, as its cornerback room is quite scary, if we're being honest. Sure, they went out and signed Nate Hobbs this offseason, but the rest of the room features players like Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Javon Bullard, and little else.

This is the biggest remaining need on the team, and if the Packers hope to compete for the NFC North title in the 2025 NFL Season, adding another veteran cornerback would be wise.

Well, fortunately for them, the Denver Broncos have a surplus at the corner and could use a player at a position where the Packers have a surplus.

Packers must call up and trade a WR to the Broncos for CB Riley Moss

If the Packers want to beef up their CB room before the regular season, they should call up the Broncos, a team that happens to have a ton of cornerbacks. They shocked the NFL world by taking Jahdae Barron at pick 20 in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Barron joins an already deep CB room consisting of Patrick Surtain II, Riley Moss, Ja'Quan McMillian, and Kris Abrams-Draine.

This is the best CB room in the NFL, period, but they may not be able to keep everyone. With Barron being someone who could end up settling in as an outside cornerback opposite Surtain, that could make someone like Riley Moss expendable. Moss was a full-time starter for Denver in 2024 and played quite well opposite Surtain, who won the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Furthermore, the Packers might be able to trade one of their many wide receivers back to Denver for Moss. Romeo Doubs might be the most logical trade piece for the Packers. While player-for-player swaps in the NFL don't usually happen anymore, this is a rare scenario where it could.

Green Bay could bolster their CB room with Riley Moss and still field a deep WR room even without Doubs, as they'd still have Jayden Reed, first-round pick Matthew Golden, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Savion Williams, who has impressed at training camp.

The Packers have a surplus at wide receiver but need another cornerback. The Broncos have a surplus at corner but could use another receiver. Simply put, this trade makes a ton of sense for both sides, and both teams could end up benefiting in a big way if this hypothetical deal went down.
