It's been a week full of questions for the Green Bay Packers. After a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, the Packers are now losers of two in a row. The good news is, they could have the perfect get-right game coming up next.
The New York Giants wasted no time firing head coach Brian Daboll this week and, while usually that's a recipe for teams to step up and play hard in the following game, interim head coach Mike Kafka announced a quarterback change -- and it could mean one of a million different things for Green Bay.
The Giants moved veteran Jameis Winston up to no. 2 on the quarterback depth chart, which means he'll get the start if Jaxson Dart doesn't clear concussion protocol in time for their Week 11 tilt.
A Jameis Winston start would mean the Packers should quite literally expect the unexpected
If Winston should get the start, it's something Giants fans will fully endorse as Russell Wilson appears to be totally beyond his years as a sufficient starting quarterback in this league. But, a Winston start also means fans on both sides should buckle up.
Winston is a guy who can come out and throw for 300 yards on any given Sunday. And, at the same time, let's not forget he's also a quarterback who has thrown 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season.
In fact, one of the more wild stats of Winston's career includes him having a whopping 15 games where he's thrown three or more interceptions.
And, at the same time, Winston also has 19 career games with 3 or more passing touchdowns.
That is out-of-this-world type of unpredictability.
For a Packers defense that's been very good this season, for the most part, this is exceptional news. Jeff Hafley's unit will be more than happy to welcome Winston to the opposite side of the ball. In fact, that unit will be praying Winston drops back more often than not in this game.
In all likelihood, we will see multiple turnovers from the veteran quarterback. But, might we also see a motivated Winston; one who comes out playing inspired football after the chaotic week?
There are so many different ways this game could go with Winston under center for New York. But, the main takeaway is, well, the opportunity for just that -- takeaways.
