Green Bay Packers rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton has missed the team's first two preseason games. Now, though, he seems ready to return and is excited about it.

In an Instagram story posted over the weekend, Dennis-Sutton shared a photo of himself on the field, with a simple caption of "I'm back" over the top of it. At Monday's practice, the rookie was back out on the field. It's a welcome sign for him, as he wasn't actually out for any injury-related reasons, but because he was suffering from overheating early in the Packers' training camp window.

On August 10, Dennis-Sutton left the team's practice due to what was called an illness at the time. It was later reported that the edge rusher "overheated" while at practice. As a result, he had to go through protocol before he was allowed to return to the field.

Dani Dennis-Sutton has a huge opportunity to be an immediate contributor

Speaking to the media last week, Dennis-Sutton said that he underwent a treatment of IVs and other tests to make sure he was okay. He also said he'd learned from the incident and would likely be more aware of his water intake during training.

While he did return last week for some solo drills, Dennis-Sutton still missed the team's game against the Denver Broncos. Now, though, he's back and will look to capitalize on what is a promising opportunity in front of him.

Latest Packers injury updates on Josh Jacobs, Brandon Cisse, and more

Prior to being out for the last two weeks, Dennis-Sutton's last real reps came during the Packers' Family Night. While he didn't get to showcase anything in either preseason game, the hopes are high for Dennis-Sutton coming into the regular season. The edge-rusher was taken with the 120th pick in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Penn State, a low spot for him despite being a consensus top-100 guy across most big boards.

For the Packers, Dennis-Sutton sliding down to them could be a blessing they didn't know they needed.

The team's edge-rusher group is currently pretty decimated, with superstar Micah Parsons still working his way back from an ACL tear and not expected to play until October at the earliest. In his place, the team is leaning on guys like Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, and Brenton Cox Jr. to hold up the group until his return.

Unfortunately, the three of those players have not exactly shown much to inspire hope.

For Dennis-Sutton, this is where his opportunity can shine. Not only can he be an immediate contributor on a team looking for one, but his size and speed can be exactly what the team needs at this moment.

The rookie tallied 23.5 sacks, 34.5 tackles for loss, and seven forced fumbles during his four-year career in college and will likely get a chance to showcase what he can bring to the Packers' edge-rushing room this weekend, right ahead of the regular season.
