The Green Bay Packers are looking to bounce back after a shocking loss to the Carolina Panthers last week. On Monday, the Packers host the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in what is expected to be a tough test for them. Only adding to the drama for Packers fans was the potential Jaire Alexander revenge game.
In the offseason, the Packers released Alexander from his contract, bringing an end to his tenure that had begun in 2018. Alexander quickly joined the Baltimore Ravens, but didn't have much of a role on the AFC North team due to lingering knee issues. Before the trade deadline, the Ravens flipped Alexander to the Eagles in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Packers fans won't have to worry about an Alexander revenge game. Multiple reports indicate that the Eagles ruled out Alexander for Monday's game due to a knee injury and a coach's decision, and he won't travel with the team to Green Bay.
Packers won't see Jaire Alexander return to Green Bay due to Eagles coach's decision
Regarding the coach's decision designation, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles want Alexander to get "acclimated to their defensive system" and to get "up to speed on his knee maintenance."

The focus is on his recovery and preparation for the rest of the season.
Even with the Eagles' need for help in the secondary, they just don't want to rush Alexander and opted against him making his team debut against his former team.
The Packers releasing Alexander did come as a surprise, considering it happened after the draft and after not making any meaningful moves to replace him. Ultimately, general manager Brian Gutekunst decided to release him. Gutekunst brought up Alexander's injury history as a factor. In his final two years, Alexander was limited to just 14 games due to injuries.
Alexander only played in two games for the Ravens this year, recording five tackles. In coverage, the cornerback allowed five catches for 116 yards on five targets, per Pro Football Reference.
The Packers now won't have to worry about Alexander potentially getting revenge against them. Instead, the Eagles are opting to take it easy with the former Pro Bowler to ensure he can contribute down the stretch.
