Teams would love if every player they drafted panned out and had a great career, but that’s unfortunately unrealistic. That’s why the Green Bay Packers, like every other team, have had draftees who didn’t reach expectations with the franchise. One of those players is tight end Josiah Deguara, who Green Bay selected in the third round of 2020 Draft.
Deguara, who was drafted out of Cincinnati, ultimately made the team, but he didn’t produce much while with the team. After catching just one pass for 12 yards as a rookie, Deguara seemingly turned a corner in year two, catching 25 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns. He followed that up with a 2022 season where he regressed to 13 catches for 114 yards.
Instead of moving back in the right direction in year four, the tight end caught just eight passes for 65 yards. Leaving the team in free agency after that, his Green Bay stint ended with 47 receptions for 436 yards and two touchdowns in 50 games.

Moving on to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024, Deguara only recorded three receptions for 14 yards. Now, he’s with the Arizona Cardinals, hoping to find his footing. He may be able to do just that with a strong camp.
Former Packers tight end Josiah Deguara needs a strong training camp with Cardinals
Arizona has a clear top tight end with Trey McBride, but the depth chart is wide open after him.
The Cardinals have Tip Reiman, who was drafted in the third round in 2024, and caught just six passes for 37 yards as a rookie, and they also have Elijah Higgins, who caught 34 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns over the last two seasons in Arizona.
McBride is the only established tight end, and only lock to make the roster for the Cardinals. If Josiah Deguara can put together a strong camp, the former Packer has a chance to carve a role out for himself as TE2.
