Packers fans are already having the J.J. McCarthy conversation Vikings are afraid to

Listen, we aren't here to play the comparison game based on one matchup. Let's get this out of the way: in the Green Bay Packers' Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Jordan Love threw for just 139 yards.

But, he didn't throw an interception. He also didn't throw a touchdown.

But, he didn't throw an interception -- and Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw two. In fact, one out of every seven passes that were caught, from the arm of McCarthy, was caught by a Packers defender. That's how bad the ratio ended up being.

And, it's a ratio that's not too far off from McCarthy's season average at this stage. On the season, McCarthy has completed 86 passes while throwing 10 interceptions. That means, for every 8-9 completions he has to his own teammates, McCarthy will also have a pass picked off.

Panic might be setting in over J.J. McCarthy and Packers fans shouldn't be the only one to see it

Look, McCarthy has only had six career starts. It's only fair to point that out. But, those six starts have been mostly abysmal. How many "good" quarters of football has he played?

Two, maybe three?

What we've seen out of the second-year pro, who might as well still be a rookie, has been downright awful. In fact, since 2010, only three quarterbacks have had a passer rating under 65.0 over their first six starts: Blaine Gabbert, Zach Wilson, and ... McCarthy.

The Vikings had a ton of success, last year, with Sam Darnold paired up alongside Kevin O'Connell. Supposedly, O'Connell is an offensive mind. He's a guru, they said. And, after watching what he did with Darnold, some might truly believe that.

But, why does it look so different with McCarthy? Again, it's only a handful of starts. But, McCarthy did spend an entire season on the bench (due to injury) watching and learning in that fashion. So, he's had some experience in the league whether it's been on the field or not.

Did Minnesota make a mistake drafting him? Should they have kept Darnold? I think we're way past the point of having this fair and real conversation.

Shoot, we could even bring up Daniel Jones, who was also on Minnesota's roster last year. The Vikings let two quarterbacks go who are now the head of a pair of playoff teams.

But, not all Vikings fans want to have that conversation yet.

News flash: it's time to have it.
