Packers fans aren't fooled by Rashan Gary's latest act with Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers sent Rashan Gary to the Dallas Cowboys back in March in a move that many fans were more than happy to celebrate. Gary was not going to be retained, yet the Packers managed to net a draft pick in exchange for their former first-rounder.

The Cowboys desperately needed help in their pass-rushing department after, funny enough, sending Micah Parsons to Green Bay last offseason. Gary is now heading to Big D to try and help the 'Boys out with that problem.

While Packers fans celebrated the trade, Cowboys fans are doing the same thing. In fact, Jerry Trotta of The Landry Hat seems to be convinced that Gary is already making a huge difference for Dallas despite not having played in a single game for the Cowboys.

"The Cowboys ultimately acquired Gary to jolt their bottom-barrel defense. But OTAs and minicamp have revealed why Dallas was willing to part with a fourth-round pick for him, despite the criticism that followed the move.

"Beyond his ability to rush the passer and stop the run, Gary has brought the kind of leadership and mentality that reflects the culture Brian Schottenheimer and Christian Parker are working to build.

"That impact won't show up in the box score, but it's the foundation of a successful team."

Cowboys fans are falling for Rashan Gary's offseason act, but Packers fans know better

Yeah, okay. Packers fans have heard this story before, and it always ended the same way - with Gary failing to live up to his offseason hype. To hear that he's doing the same stuff with his new team isn't the least bit surprising to Packers fans, and it'll be even less surprising when the season begins and Cowboys fans discover about Gary what Green Bay has known for years.

Gary has shown flashes of All-Pro potential throughout his career and has enjoyed many impressive training camps. But he has yet to hit double-digit sacks in a season, and last year failed to make a sack in the final 10 games, including the playoffs. There were even questions about his effort.

Cowboys fans can continue to convince themselves that this was a good trade and that Gary will be the game-changing force their defense needs, but Packers fans know better.

Packers fans know that, as soon as the regular season gets underway, the leadership qualities and skills Gary showcased during the offseason won't translate into production. Same story, different team.
