Find someone who loves you like Jerry Jones loves losing to the Green Bay Packers.
He's got Chicago Bears-level experience — the Packers have as many playoff wins at AT&T Stadium as Jones' Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay has never lost in Jerry World.
As it turns out, Packers victories over the Cowboys extend to the offseason. In this case, Dallas took a self-inflicted loss.
Many draft experts predicted the Cowboys would select Matthew Golden in the first round.
The Cowboys hosted Golden on a pre-draft visit, and he even posted a photo with Jones on social media. It made too much sense.
Jones' team instead reached for offensive lineman Tyler Booker and passed on the opportunity to land Texas' own star wide receiver. But the Cowboys clearly believed they needed wide receiver help, highlighted by their wild trade for George Pickens. Fortunately, the Packers passed on a deal for Pickens.
FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz reports that before they sent a third-rounder to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Pickens, the Cowboys tried to trade for Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
They should've just drafted Golden.
Packers catch a lucky break as Cowboys trade for George Pickens over drafting Matthew Golden
The Cowboys passing on Golden cleared the path. They were one of the real threats to draft the Texas star, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the only team picking between the Cowboys and Packers to select a wide receiver with their surprise move for Emeka Egbuka.
Golden fell to No. 23, creating an all-time draft moment as Packers president Mark Murphy announced it in front of the joyous hometown fans.
The Packers landed the wide receiver they desperately needed. Golden is a game-changing addition to Matt LaFleur's offense and could become the "WR1" Jordan Love has lacked.
It's hard to believe the Cowboys didn't draft him. All signs seemed to point that way, given their need for a wide receiver and their rumored interest in him, but maybe we shouldn't be surprised. After all, Jones' team traded a fourth-round pick for Jonathan Mingo. Sending a third for Pickens and passing on Golden isn't even the worst wide receiver decision they've made in the past year.
Their bizarre choice is perfectly fine for us. Love crushed the Cowboys in the playoffs two seasons ago, and Jones has handed him another huge W this offseason.
