The Green Bay Packers may have just watched their season come to a close in disappointing fashion, but there's one thing fans will still be able to hang their hats on: at least they're not Chicago Bears fans.
Sure, the Bears got themselves their first win over the Packers in 12 tries just over a week ago. As the old saying goes, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and a while. The Packers are still set up for sustained success far more so than the Bears are, currently.
To put it bluntly, only one of the two franchises are currently looking for a new head coach ... again.
Speaking of the Bears' coaching vacancy, having still not made a decision, Chicago is casting a hilariously-wide net in their process. Shoot, you (yes, you, the reader) might just get a phone call soon to learn that yes, you've also been granted an interview for the job.
In that same tone, the Bears were once recently interested in a former Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy.
The Dallas Cowboys prevented the Bears from an interview with McCarthy a few days ago, though -- but that would only extend so far.
Monday morning, the Cowboys announced they were officially parting ways with McCarthy, opening up the door for Chicago's interest once more. Sure enough, Chicago was right back in on McCarthy.
And, a Packers legend and former quarterback thinks McCarthy would make a lot of sense in Chicago.
This is essentially Brett Favre giving McCarthy credit for developing Aaron Rodgers and potentially even Dak Prescott. Say what you will about McCarthy and Rodgers, but crediting McCarthy with developing Dak might be a bit of a stretch.
More Packers news
After all, Dak already has a 30-touchdown season under his belt before McCarthy's arrival.
If the Bears want the very definition of mediocrity, then Mike McCarthy is their guy
Look, McCarthy had a good run in Green Bay. He led the Packers to several successful regular seasons and a Super Bowl championship as well.
Packers fans know good and well what McCarthy did for this franchise and respect him for it. However, in the same breath, it must be noted that many Packers fans also believe the game to have passed McCarthy by.
If the Bears want a head coach who could lead them to a successful regular season, then McCarthy is potentially a good hire. Hover, if the Bears were to reach the postseason under McCarthy (that's hilarious) then they better be prepared for late-game mismanagement and falling flat on their faces under his leadership.
In Dallas, McCarthy was 1-3 in the postseason. His regular season success is well-documented with the Boys going 12-5 in three-straight seasons. But, the playoff record speaks for itself.
You want to hire McCarthy, Chicago? Go right ahead. Packer nation will be laughing all the while.
