Barring a shocking turn of events, the Chicago Bears are ostensibly heading to Hammond, Indiana. So, by the power of transitive property, the Green Bay Packers are going there too, at least once a year.

The passing of Senate Bill 27 (SB 27) is significant for the Bears' move to Indiana. Lawmakers are making headway toward relocating one of the NFL's most storied franchises. The Bears have resided in Chicago for over a century, but a change of scenery is suddenly on the horizon.

It's beginning to feel inevitable that the Bears will leave the iconic Soldier Field in due course, so pack your bags, Packers fans!

Frankly, the idea of the Bears calling anywhere other than Chicago home doesn't feel right.

Even folks in Green Bay will tell you that. Yet, an official statement from the seemingly Indiana-bound club suggests they're looking forward to building a new, domed stadium outside of the Windy City.

"The passage of SB 27 would mark the most meaningful step forward in our stadium planning efforts to date. We are committed to finishing the remaining site-specific necessary due diligence to support our vision to build a world-class stadium near the Wolf Lake area in Hammond, Indiana. We appreciate the leadership shown by Governor Braun, Speaker Huston, Senator Mishler and members of the Indiana General Assembly in establishing this critical framework and path forward to deliver a premier venue for all of Chicagoland and a destination for Bears fans and visitors from across the globe. We value our partnership and look forward to continuing to build our working relationship together."
Chicago Bears on potential relocation

Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren tried to keep the organization out of Indiana, albeit to no avail. Their purchase of a 326-acre site in Arlington Heights, a Chicago suburb, failed to gain traction, leaving them with no choice but to pivot.

For what it's worth, the Bears won't be far from the current venue. Lake Wolf, the area in Hammond they're eyeing, is roughly half an hour away from their stomping grounds in Chicago. The commute doesn't change too drastically, which is an aspect of this story that appears to be flying under the radar.
