Packers hint at bringing back controversial uniforms on SNF vs. Seahawks

We love to see it, but we also hate to see it. Hard to tell!

We've got some GOSSIP for you today here at Lombardi Avenue. And, like all good gossip, it's not really based in anything other than bored internet speculation. But it's harmless uniform gossip, so let's just lean in and get weird. This is the internet, after all.

The Packers' uniforms are pretty straight forward. While other teams bounce around trying different combos out, sampling prior eras, Green Bay generally keeps it simple. Timeless is a good word for it. There's a (I'm so sorry) strong brand identity that comes with their uniforms, so why mess it up? Let the Jets wear a bunch of dopey new jerseys.

So given that the Packers have [most pretentious voice possible] such iconic, classic uniforms, it's slightly notable that they are, apparently, teasing their "new" uniforms again for this weekend's game in Seattle. But it's up to Packers fans as to whether or not they wear them, apparently? I don't know. They fired off a confusing tweet the other day and left us all wondering.

Packers hint that all-white uniforms are coming back for Week 15 game in Seattle

On the surface, this looks like a pretty normal, 2015-era crowd sourcing exercise. If we get enough retweets, we'll do something silly!! They certainly wouldn't be the first team to use Twitter to make final decisions on uniforms. Some middle manager on the Packers' communication team has had this one (1) idea for the last 10 years and definitely brings it up in every meeting.

But ... there's no number? The Packers just want us to retweet it? That's the part that confuses me. How many RTs?! My guess is that they're too timid to land on an actual number they need to reach, because of the whole "Twitter is hemorrhaging users and engagement is at an all-time low" schtick happening over there right now. It'd be awfully embarrassing if Packers fans weren't as stoked about the alternate uniforms as the team's corporate sponsors were! Now they can just say they got the requisite amount of RTs to wear the jerseys they planned to wear the entire time. If that's not fan engagment, I don't know what is.

So if you want to see their all-white alternates on Sunday, go find that Tweet and smash the RT button. If you don't want to see their all-white alternates on Sunday, maybe don't turn on the TV.
