The Green Bay Packers have taken a significant step toward potentially replacing kicker Brayden Narveson.

Narveson has struggled since joining the team before the start of the season, missing a league-high five field goals in the opening six games. Head coach Matt LaFleur said, "We'll see," when asked about Narveson's future with the team, adding that they would take it "day by day."

The Packers are considering their options. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the team has worked out free agent Brandon McManus.

The NFL recently completed an investigation after McManus was accused of sexually assaulting two women during the Jacksonville Jaguars' trip to London last season.

"There was insufficient evidence to support a finding that a violation of the personal conduct policy occurred. As always, if new evidence is presented it would be taken into consideration," said league spokesperson Brian McCarthy via ESPN.

McManus hasn't played in the NFL since the allegations. In June, the Washington Commanders released the veteran kicker less than three months after signing him to a one-year deal.

Unlike Narveson, McManus would offer extensive NFL experience. He has been in the league for 10 years, spending nine seasons with the Denver Broncos and one with the Jaguars.

He has a career field goal percentage of 81.4 and an excellent 97.2 percent on extra-point tries.

Last season with the Jaguars, he converted 30 of 37 field goals (81.1 percent) while making all 35 extra-point tries. While McManus' field goal percentage was slightly lower than Anders Carlson's for the Packers (81.8 percent), he was far more consistent in the 40-49-yard range, where Carlson struggled. McManus converted 11 of 13 attempts in that range, while Carlson managed just four of eight.

Coincidentally, the San Francisco 49ers signed Carlson to their practice squad on Tuesday.

The Packers are exploring their options at kicker, which shows they are considering moving on from Narveson after yet another miss in Week 6.
