Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed suffered a scary injury in the team's Week 2 matchup against the New York Jets. Not long after, right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele (who has been banged up a bit) also came down awkwardly on his right leg and needed to be carted off the field on the next play.
On the second play of the game, Reed caught a short pass from Jordan Love and was tackled by Jets linebacker DeMario Davis. The situation was serious enough to warrant Reed being removed from the field via the spine board as both teams gathered around the injured receiver.
On the very next play, Bako-Bewele went down while Love threw an incomplete pass. Bako-Bewele's right leg was placed in an air cast, and he was also taken out of the game. Almost immediately after their injuries, both Reed and Bako-Bewele were ruled out for the remainder of the game.

At a time when the Packers could not stand to suffer through any more injuries, two major offensive cornerstones have suffered some very concerning ailments.
The recently-extended Reed was likely viewing this season as a comeback tour, as he suffered an injury in Week 2 in 2025 that cost him most of last campaign. With Matthew Golden still developing and the run game suffering with Josh Jacobs out of commission, Matt LaFleur likely planned to use Reed as much as possible.
Zach Bako-Bewele's absence could hurt the Green Bay Packers
For the purposes of fielding a competitive team in Week 2 and beyond Bako-Bewele may be the more detrimental of the two injuries. Even with Aaron Banks back in the starting lineup, the offensive line may be the overall weakest part of Green Bay's current operation. Bako-Bewele is the one player Green Bay can hang its hat on as an above-average performer.
Things could get dicey for the Packers in the short term, as an offensive line that was already mixing and matching players out of their primary position in the name of getting their best five on the field has now found themselves without an anchor at right tackle they can trust to hold up on deeper pass plays.
While Packers fans everywhere wait for official updates on Reed and Bako-Bewele's status, all that can be done is assumign that both of these injuries were not ad debilitating and gruesome as they looked on the broadcast and that they can return to game action as soon as possible.
