The Green Bay Packers have no interest in your mock drafts. Who predicted they would go all offense in the opening three rounds? And nobody guessed they would take two wide receivers with their first three picks.
Brian Gutekunst had clearly seen enough from the Packers' inconsistent passing game. After a season filled with frustrating drops, it was time to get Jordan Love the help he deserves and Matt LaFleur two game-changing pieces to add to his offense.
First-rounder Matthew Golden can play a similar role to Christian Watson, and then some. His 4.29 speed will force defenses to respect the deep ball, making life easier for his teammates.
One of those teammates? Third-round addition Savion Williams, who adds a completely different skill set to the Packers' offense.
He has drawn comparisons to Cordarrelle Patterson and Deebo Samuel, and for good reason.
Savion Williams is a dream addition for the Packers but creates a nightmare for the NFC North
The Packers became too reliant on Josh Jacobs last season, as the sputtering passing game couldn't be relied on for consistency. They've changed that with two draft picks.
Golden offers a bit of everything, and his speed can stretch defenses vertically and open space underneath. That's where Williams can shine.
"Williams is such a headache for opposing defenses, as he needs to be taken into account as both an over-the-middle threat and a runner," writes FanSided's Mike Luciano. "Williams was used in a way not dissimilar to Deebo Samuel, albeit with a 6-5 frame making him a difficult player to tackle in the open field."
Matt LaFleur will use him in so many creative ways. In his final season at TCU, Williams caught 60 passes for 611 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 322 yards and six scores. He also has return experience.
"As a receiver and runner, Williams shows an understanding of how to use his frame to full effect," Luciano added.
"Once he becomes a bit sharper with some of his routes down the field, Williams could evolve into a premier deep threat at the next level."
There are concerns. Williams struggled with drops in college and is still a work in progress, but the Packers believe in his potential. And why not?
Defensive coordinators will have nightmares trying to stop this offense. Jacobs takes most of the attention, but the addition of Golden and Williams gives the Packers more ways to win. It's a surprise pick, but LaFleur will love Williams' versatility and ability to take the ball to the house on any given play.
NFC North, you are on notice.
