The Green Bay Packers picked up a huge win on Sunday Night Football, improving their record to 5-1-1, but things move fast in the NFL.

While the Packers were enjoying their Week 8 victory, the majority of the league had already turned its attention to the future. That was evident in a Monday trade between the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams, which saw veteran corner Roger McCreary traded from Tennessee to L.A.

The Packers didn’t have anything to do with this deal, but they ended up being involved anyway. After the Titans sent McCreary to the Rams, Tennessee decided to steal a player from Green Bay, signing cornerback Micah Robinson off the Packers' practice squad.

Packers miss out on Roger McCreary trade and then lose their seventh-round rookie CB

Micah Robinson was drafted by Green Bay in the seventh round of the 2025 Draft, and while he wasn’t on the active roster, he was a promising young player for the franchise. The Packers elevated Robinson for their Week 2 game, and with the recent struggles in Green Bay’s secondary, he could’ve been called on again. Tennessee has taken that option away from the Packers.

The struggling Packers secondary is also why the Packers should have been the team trying to land McCreary.

Green Bay recently benched Nate Hobbs, who was one of its top offseason acquisitions, and Keisean Nixon has been struggling throughout the season. That’s why the Packers seemed like the perfect landing spot for McCreary.

Instead, the corner went to the Rams, Green Bay’s NFC competition. Not only did the Packers miss out on an upgrade, but their defensive back room got weaker, with Robinson being pulled out of the building. Ultimately, the Packers are still 5-1-1 and riding high after another impressive win, but this was a moment the team could’ve gotten better. Instead, the opposite happened.
