Packers kick off OTAs with an encouraging Christian Watson injury update

The Packers will take the good news where they can get it.

Whoever came up with the expression about how one man's trash was another one's treasure was clearly talking about OTAs. Realistically, there isn't anything at all to be taken away from guys running around the field at 65% playing 7-on-7 in shorts and t-shirts.

In a perfect world, we'd all be better off ignoring it. Our collective sanity could certainly use a break after free agency and the draft.

The Packers' best example of that yet came on Wednesday morning, when, in traditional beat writer fashion, ESPN's Rob Demovsky tweeted a grainy video of players stretching and warming up from, apparently, two and a half miles away. But you'll note that Christian Watson is there, kinda stretching. Everyone to the runway!

Christian Watson is already back and practicing* with the Packers (*kinda)

Since I am not at all a doctor, I have no idea what stretching means for Watson's return from a late-season ACL injury. Anyone who's claiming to be a doctor on Twitter also has no idea what it means. But it's cool to see him already kinda back in team activities, considering what everyone expected his timeline to be this offseason.

And maybe nothing about that timeline has changed, but for right now, it kinda feels like it has. Again – no one will remember any of this, so we can just celebrate that Watson is basically back and will definitely be available in Week 1. It's all happening. And when Watson isn't back or available by Week 1, we'll cross that bridge then. This has been your encouraging Packers OTA update. Stay tuned next week, when we show you the one Jordan Love throw that started his MVP campaign.
