The Green Bay Packers once again maintain their hold over first place in the NFC North after they pulled off a late rally over the Arizona Cardinals to win 27-23. During the game, the Packers saw a franchise record get broken, as Lucas Havrisik successfully made a 61-yard field goal to cut Green Bay's deficit to 13-6.
Having a kicker who can make kicks like that with relative ease is a huge plus for any NFL team. The problem is, the Packers also have Brandon McManus on the roster. McManus has been sidelined since Week 6 after tweaking his quadriceps during practice. Havrisik stepped in and has been flawless, making all four field goal attempts and all six extra-point attempts.
But the Packers now have a problem — they have two kickers on the roster. What are they going to do once McManus is deemed healthy to return?
Packers face huge kicking problem with Brandon McManus and Lucas Havrisik
Obviously, this problem is contingent on McManus being cleared from his quadriceps injury. From there, the team will have to decide which kicker to keep.

McManus is the proven veteran who has been in the NFL for 12 years and is a former Super Bowl champion. This year, he has been good for the Packers, making seven of nine field goal attempts and 11 of 12 extra points. Once he got injured, Havrisik stepped in and has been spectacular so far.
So, what do the Packers do right now once McManus is ready to be cleared?
Do they keep both of them on the roster and play the hot hand until one cools off? Perhaps the most ideal situation for the Packers is that they try to find a taker at the trade deadline for either Havrisik or McManus and get some draft capital in return.
There are some teams that have a desperate need at kicker (looking at you, New York Giants). Do they place McManus on injured reserve? Or, do the Packers make the risky move to cut Havrisik? That would be a tough pill for them to swallow, especially if another team adds him and he helps them win games.
It's a great problem to have for the Packers. Having kicking depth, especially when seeing other teams struggle to find the right player at the position. But keeping two is not necessarily ideal. One has to go eventually, so who do the Packers pick?
