Trying to make sense of the Green Bay Packers' kicking situation is becoming more challenging by the day.
Brandon McManus has played through a quad injury, with predictably poor results, but the Packers remained stubborn in their stance that he's their guy. He didn't appear on the team's injury report for Week 11, an indication he's fully healthy.
But that just changed. Less than a day before the Packers take on the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, Green Bay has added McManus to the injury report, again due to a quad issue, and listed him as doubtful. That would suggest Lucas Havrisik will get another opportunity.
Lucas Havrisik in line to kick for Packers after last-minute injury report addition
It's hard to keep up. McManus was deemed healthy enough to return in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing two games, despite being limited at practice and questionable on the injury report. He missed field goals from 57 and 44 yards.
A week later, the Packers again listed him as questionable despite logging two full practices. McManus played but missed another field goal, a 43-yarder, which cost the team in a three-point loss to the Carolina Panthers.

In Week 10, McManus practiced in full all week and didn't carry an injury designation, but he again missed a kick, although this one was from 64 yards.
Fast forward to this week, and McManus didn't even appear on the injury report through Friday. But on Saturday, the Packers added him and listed his status as doubtful. OK, then. Havrisik it is?
That would suggest McManus suffered a setback or re-injured his quad. It's unclear what happened. Regardless, Packers fans will get their wish with Havrisik likely to kick. He was perfect in the two games he played, including shattering Mason Crosby's franchise record with a 61-yard field goal.
The Packers also announced that wide receiver Malik Heath won't travel with the team due to a coach's decision. There are no further details on what that means, but Heath won't be available for Green Bay on Sunday. Fellow wide receivers Matthew Golden (shoulder) and Savion Williams (foot) are questionable, although Romeo Doubs (chest), Christian Watson (knee), and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) are good to go.
