Matt LaFleur said Taylor Elgersma had a live arm, and the rookie quarterback delivered during the Green Bay Packers' rookie minicamp.

Elgersma is a name to remember.

While the Canadian quarterback went undrafted, the Packers have shown clear interest by hosting him for a tryout. He was the only quarterback on the practice field, which gave him one-on-one time with LaFleur. And Elgersma put on a show.

"Elgersma's arm is in fact live. Can confirm," Packer Report's Andy Herman wrote from minicamp. "Wouldn't be surprised if they liked him enough to be the #4 QB in camp."

As the only quarterback at rookie minicamp, Elgersma received extensive coaching from LaFleur and new quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion.

The buzz is quietly building about Elgersma, who threw for 4,011 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions for the Laurier Golden Hawks last season. He also showed off his rushing ability with six more touchdowns on the ground.

He could be the perfect quarterback to develop on the practice squad, but the Packers face competition.

Packers aren't the only team interested in rookie quarterback Taylor Elgersma

Despite going undrafted in the NFL, Elgersma has received plenty of interest. The Buffalo Bills plan to give him a tryout, and Elgersma was also selected in the second round of the Canadian Football League Draft. He has options.

The Packers have the inside track, as passing game coordinator Jason Vrabel coached him at the Senior Bowl. Green Bay has a track record of bringing in players who perform well in Mobile, Alabama, and Vrabel got to spend the week with the young quarterback.

The Packers need to act quickly. He would be a perfect fourth quarterback to bring to training camp. While he's a way off being ready to play NFL snaps, he has something. LaFleur described it as a "live arm," but Elgersma can also move and run.

Last season, Elgersma took home first-team All-Canadian honors and won the Hec Crighton Trophy, which many compare to the Heisman Trophy.

The Packers don't need competition for Jordan Love or Malik Willis, but they are always looking for quarterback talent. Sean Clifford lost his job as the No. 2 last season, and the Packers may view Elgersma as a project who could eventually take on backup duties.

That's a long way off, and the Packers haven't even signed him yet. But Elgersma caught attention at rookie minicamp and is a player to watch closely.
